AXIS + PRAXIS

I have been fascinated by digestion, aging & remedies since I became sick in 2014.

It’s been a pretty wild ride since then and yes it is true once you have cancer you could never get rid of it. If didn’t know my body then I have no clue about my body now.

Menopause is inevitable for women however it is quite fascinating that it is underrated and zero mentioned. Cynical really it is as if we are in the queue to slaughter house with no hurry. I feel like we’ve lost the drama and why so subtle?

The stuff that people are selling out in the market is really a load of mumbo jumbo and very wide & yet very specific. In this post I’d like to share where I am (in the menopause stage), the changes I am going through, what I found + tried & will try & finally what am I doing about it.

Short story.

2014 I got Thyroid (papillary) Cancer, I have not been sick for a day prior to. The ops went well & recovered brilliantly post-surgery. Since then I lost the ability to control my body temp & I was troubled by small stuff like aches, bruises, depression, absent-minded, dry skin, irregular menstrual, chronic fatigue, and no sleep for about 5 years on. I ended my marriage somewhere in the timeline and I was just working nonstop.

2022/22 My menstrual stopped but everything on the list above continued with increased intensity + everything dried up & suddenly eczema showed up on my neck a few days ago & said HI.

Right now I am sitting in our camper and having the itch of my life and wondering shit! this has to stop. I have been reading up on how Digestion is the main key in Menopause and how the lack of Estrogen does crap to your body…… then a thought popped up I can’t be the only one suffering ??? ALL WOMEN do but why do I not hear about it?? Are we keeping it cool?

Since I closed my beloved yoga studio I don’t work the same level I did before, I am not as physical meaning I don’t teach 3 classes & work 16 - 18 hours a day. I am beginning to have a routine like living life routine. I get my nails done, I go for walks and I eat on time.

Here is what I gathered from my readings and the journey I am on.

It is absolutely ok to embrace change and allow the body to change, it is another phase of life. Our body is aging & its doing what it does accordingly HOWEVER it is totally cool to slow the process and live this phase of life with grace and the least problems.

Here is what you should take a closer look at while you enter the next phase ….

  • Digestion

  • Sleep

  • Hot Flushes

  • Skin Condition

  • Alertness

  • Weight

  • Vaginal Health

DIGESTION

This is the first thing that hits - bloated, sluggish & constipation

Look into taking a probiotic can help with menopause symptoms, the connection with gut & vagina health is very much real, we need the diversity of microbiome in

If you think the microbiome is only relegated to the digestive tract, think bigger! There are  distinct communities of microbes all throughout your body. The vagina, in particular, is home to a fascinating microbial environment. It’s one that must contend with—and protect itself from—everything from menstrual products and contraceptives to other humans and their many parts.

Unlike your gut microbiome, where the diversity of species is a reliable indicator of health, the vagina actually functions best when colonized by a single, dominant genus: Lactobacillus.5 Key species from this group work to maintain a low pH environment and fight infections. Turns out, poor vaginal microbiome health is linked to many pervasive issues, from bacterial vaginosis (BV) and urinary tract infections (UTIs) to sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and even preterm birth.

Taken from SEED HEALTH

The microbes effects our skin health, good healthy gut supports healthy looking skin in a variety of conditions—acne, eczema, rosacea—through the gut-skin axis.

I have been taking SEED Probiotics, I am on my second bottle & so far very good. I wasn’t consistent, you know life happened as usual.

Whilst eating solve most of the complaints however here are things I have been doing lately.

I allocate roughly 10 - 20mins of Meditation & Reiki Self Healing every morning for mental clarity.

1 hour Walk or 30mins of Movement for muscle conditioning

As for weight management, my body is changing, I am fluffy but I switched it up, I increased my carb intake and reduce my protein and eating more good oil and eating more steamed vegetables.

I have been an avid fasting for a long time but now it is part of my life. 16/8 Method, I eat naughty stuff during the day around 1 -2 pm As you all know I follow the Ayurvedic way of living but I am also good at stretching the boundaries.

Ayurvedic Golden Hour

Vata Hour

  • Night 2pm - 6pm (or sunset) Good for evening walks and light meals (or a NAP!

Pitta Hour

  • Day 10am - 2pm Eat your major meals or good time to eat ice cream

  • Night 10pm - 2am If you are awake at this time avoid food

  • Night 6pm - 10pm Cozy prep for early bedtime by 10pm

Although I am still battling with hot & cold flushes, interrupted sleep as well as my new found ECZEMA. It is really hard to embrace gracefully when going through a biological change but all I can do is to keep showing up as my best for myself.

I will add my (vitamin) shopping list in the next post!
